ADAS camera recalibration after windshield replacement
If your vehicle has a forward-facing camera mounted behind the mirror, it is aimed through the windshield. Replace the glass and that aim changes — which means lane keeping, adaptive cruise and automatic emergency braking need to be recalibrated before you rely on them again.
Which vehicles need it
Most vehicles from roughly the mid-2010s onward with a camera housing behind the rear-view mirror. If your car has lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control or automatic emergency braking, assume it applies until we confirm otherwise from your year, make and model.
Why it is not optional
A camera aimed even slightly wrong reads lane lines and stopping distances incorrectly. The system may brake late, wander in the lane, or throw faults. Skipping recalibration to save money on a windshield job defeats the purpose of the safety systems you paid for.
